ABOUT CARL RIST
Carl Rist is running for Durham City Council to bring more widely-shared prosperity, greater access to affordable housing, a healthier environment and community safety to the Bull City. Carl and his wife, Lisa, moved to Durham in 1989 and chose Durham as the place to build their lives, invest in their community, and raise two boys.
A lifelong progressive, Carl has decades of professional experience advocating at the national-level for economic opportunity with the DC-based nonprofit, Prosperity Now. He also has decades of experience serving as a volunteer and officer with local organizations such as the People’s Alliance, Self-Help, NC Child and the Durham Living Wage Project.
Carl will bring a deep understanding of public policy, a firm grasp of Durham politics, and a progressive lens to the key issues facing Durham.
